Joseph F. Davis

Joseph F. Davis, 77, of Constantia, died on October 4, 2003. Born in Waterloo, Quebec, Canada, he lived in Syracuse 30 years before moving to Constantia 9 yrs. Ago. Mr. Davis retired in 1992 as a customer representative with Midlantic Bankafter ten years ago. He was in the first graduating class of LeMoyne College, a Navy SeaBee, Syracuse University Boxing Club, boxed Carmen Basilio for Navy Golden Gloves attended Cortland State for his Master's degree and was a school teacher at Solvay High School, and the Varsity Track and Field coach and also was Owner Operator of Davis Driving School for 30 years. Mr. Davis was a Member of St. Charles Catholic Church in Westvale, St. Bernadettes Catholic Church in Constantia, Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus-9602 in Central Square. He was a Life Member of the Trach-Auringer VFW 7325 in Constantia and the Navy Seabee Veterans of America. Mr. Davis belonged to the LeMoyne Alumni Association and was a WWII Navy Seabees Veteran. He was an avid golfer at Glenwood ( a club champ)and Northshore golf courses and also was a Eucaristic Minister, Religious Ed Teacher, and Lecturer at St. Bernadettes Catholic Church in Constantia. Mr. Davis is survived by his wife of 47 years, the former MaryLou McConnell; five sons, Martin, Michael, Joe, and Mark Davis of Syracuse, and John Davis of Strawberry, Arizona; four daughters, Kathleen DiNardo of Skaneateles, Maureen Davis of Myrtle Beach, S. Carolina, Mary Beth Allen of Syracuse, and Theresa McElwain of Constantia; 18 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
